Updated - December 01, 2024 09:51 am IST - Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram traffic police has initiated action against two-wheeler riders whose vehicles do not have number plates or those who have altered number plates, but are not caught on AI cameras.

During inspections, vehicles using hinges on number plates in violation of Motor Vehicle Rules, those with number plates fixed below the tail lamp, altered mud guard and indicator, and motorcycles that made loud noise while on the road had been detected. Most of the vehicles seized on Sunday were motorcycles that travelled at high speed. Legal action had been started against those riding the motorcycles and owners of the vehicles. The vehicles that were seized would be presented in court, Traffic Assistant Commissioner of Police said.

The vehicle inspections were held under the leadership of District Police Chief (Thiruvananthapuram City) G. Sparjan Kumar and Deputy Commissioner of Police B.V. Vijay Bharath Reddy.

Special drives will continue against vehicles that flout rules, the traffic police said.
