The Mozart of Madras is 58! Legendary Oscar-winning musician AR Rahman, who put Indian film music on the global map, celebrated his 58th birthday on Monday (January 6).

Isaipuyal, as he is fondly called, made his film debut in Mani Ratnam’s 1990 film, Roja. Widely considered as one of the greatest Indian composers, the Padma Bhushan awardee is a recipient of six National Film Awards, two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe Award, and innumerable other awards.
