New Project director for LVM3 vehicle at VSSC

The LVM3, the Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) heftiest operational launch vehicle which will be used in the Gaganyaan human spaceflight programme among other missions, has a new project director.

The ISRO headquarters has issued orders appointing Victor Joseph T. as the new project director of the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mk III Project at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Thiruvananthapuram.

(The GSLV Mk-III vehicle is now known as the LVM3).

He replaces Beena A.P., who has been reassigned as Deputy Director, Structural Engineering Entity, at the VSSC, a January 10 order issued by the space agency’s chairman S. Somanath said.

Prior to this posting, Mr. Victor Joseph was Scientific Secretary, at the ISRO headquarters in Bengaluru.

VSSC is the lead ISRO facility for launch vehicles.

ISRO is poised for a major change at the top with V. Narayanan, the current director of the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC), set to take over from Mr. Somanath as Chairman from January 14.
