A seven-year-old boy died after a movable iron goalpost collapsed on him on Friday (January 31, 2025) evening at the air force staff quarters in Avadi.

The deceased has been identified as Advik, 7, son of Rajesh, a staff of the air force station in Avadi. Advik was a Class 1 student at a local school, and he lived with his parents at the air force quarters.

On Friday evening, he was standing next to the goalpost, while others were playing, when the movable post supported by a boulder collapsed. He saw it falling and began to run but the bar of the goalpost fell on him.

Onlookers rushed the child to a hospital where a doctor declared him dead. The Muthapudupet police has registered a case and further investigation is on.
