Kozhikode MP M.K. Raghavan said the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Seetharaman on Saturday (February 1) was merely a set of promises aimed at the forthcoming elections. He said the Centre had neglected the needs of Kerala as always, at the same time announcing a multitude of projects for Bihar.

While the Budget made allocations to improve the airport in Patna and to build new ones in Bihar, the developmental needs of the Calicut International Airport, which is already a profit-making one, was neglected.

The tax deductions were specifically aimed at Delhi as the election approached. But the rehabilitation of the landslide victims of Wayanad was not considered.

Makhana, a farm produce of Bihar got special consideration. At the same time the agricultural sector of Kerala, including rubber, was neglected, the MP said in a press release.
