ZLB23, the award-winning speakeasy in The Leela Palace Bengaluru, is turning two. And it is celebrating its anniversary in style with a host of bar takeovers and music performances all month. This week, on February 5, Singapore-based bar Jigger & Pony is taking over the bar. The bar comes in at number five on the list of the world’s best bars.

The bar is spread over two floors of the Amara Hotel in Singapore’s Tanjong Pagar area. Named after the equipment bartenders use to measure drinks, Jigger & Pony began in 2012. The cocktail programme goes beyond a menu, and every season they release a ‘menuzine’. The current one, called SMASH, has 20 cocktails, and the idea behind each is to celebrate fun and vibrancy. Such as the smashing sundae, an ice cream cocktail. The drink is made with gin, vodka, Italian bitters, melon, green tea, shiso and vanilla ice cream.
Saverio Casella is the principal bartender of Jigger & Pony. Hailing from the coastal town of Messina in Sicily, Saverio grew up helping his family at their bar. After working in Europe for years, he joined the bar in Singapore. At the event in Bengaluru, he is bringing down some classic cocktails. “Jigger & Pony will be bringing our signature style of convivial hospitality and delicious cocktails from our current menu, SMASH,” he says. Expect the lycheetini, made with Bombay Sapphire gin, Premier Cru gin, homemade lychee vermouth and Daiyame shochu (a sweet potato spirit). “Expect fun favourites like the boozy and boldly flavoured Godfather with Hibiki Harmony at its base,” he adds.
