Renowned singer Sonu Nigam delivered a mesmerizing performance at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday, just a day after suffering from a severe back spasm. The event, held in the newly inaugurated Open Air Theatre on the occasion of Rashtrapati Bhavan Diwas, was graced by President Droupadi Murmu, who also presented Nigam with idols of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra.
The President of India’s official Instagram handle shared moments from the event, highlighting Nigam’s performance. Despite being in excruciating pain just a day prior, the 51-year-old singer took to the stage to perform.
Nigam had earlier revealed his struggle with intense back pain following a performance in Pune. He shared on Instagram that while singing and dancing during the concert, he experienced a stabbing sensation in his spine, making movement unbearable. “The pain was excruciating—it felt like someone had placed a needle near my spine, and even the slightest movement would pierce it deeper,” he wrote.
Nigam chose to perform at Rashtrapati Bhavan. He credited divine blessings for helping him overcome the physical challenge, saying, “One of the most difficult days of my life, but very fulfilling.”
