Massive fire in chemical factory in Cherlapally, no casualties reported

A massive fire broke out in a chemical factory located in the Industrial Development Area (IDA) in Cherlapally on Tuesday evening. No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.

According to an official from the Fire Control, following a distress call at 6.36 p.m., seven fire tenders were pressed into service. The fire was reported in Sarvodaya Solvents Pvt Ltd, a chemical products manufacturing company located in phase I of IDA Cherlapally.

According Medchal-Malkajgiri District Fire Officer V. Srinivas, the factory was closed for maintenance at the time of the accident. As per preliminary investigation, the fire could have been triggered by sparks, however a probe has been launched for identify the cause, he said.

The official added that the structural column of the factory had collapsed due to the fire before it was brought under control around 9 p.m.

The Mahalakshmi Rubber Company located right next to the affected facility also caught fire, further intensifying the situation and leading to a sense of suffocation for some residents in the area, the police said.
