In this episode of Notes & Chords, we speak to a Maati Baani, a collaborative musical platform that blends the vibrant and colourful world of Indian folk music with the rhythms of funk and blues. Created in 2012, Maati Baani literally means the “sound of the earth” and was founded by the musician couple Nirali and Kartik.

While Nirali is a Hindustani classical vocalist from the Mewati Gharana, Kartik is an award-winning music composer and producer. Over the years, Nirali and Kartik have collaborated with more than 250 noted musicians from over 30 countries around the world, including Mongolia, Israel, USA and across Europe.
