An adventure sports group from Mysuru is planning a Himalayan trekking expedition exclusively for the children of pourakarmikas from April 24 to May 7 this year.

A statement from Tiger Adventure Foundation, Mysuru, led by D.S.D. Solanki said the trekking expedition will be held in Kyarkoti and Lamb Tal in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand.

A total of 10 to 12 children, aged between 13 and 21 years, will be selected for the expedition through a rigorous medical screening process conducted by the doctors who are mountaineers themselves, he said.

Once selected, the participants will undergo intensive training across different terrains in and around Mysuru including Kukkarahalli Lake, Vijaynagar Stadium, Gangothri campus, Chamundi Hills, Kunti Betta, Bettadapura Hills, and Hosahalli. The training will culminate with a Josh Run in Mysuru that will ensure the participants are physically and mentally prepared for the expedition.

The participants will report at Dehradun before travelling to the Harshil base camp and then embark upon a challenging trek through Lal Devta, Kyarkoti meadows, and finally summit Lamb Tal on May 1, 2025.

Apart from trekking, the participants will get an opportunity to visit key cultural and historical sites in Dehradun, Delhi, Agra, Rishikesh, Gangothri, and Amritsar, broadening their horizons beyond the trek, Mr. Solanki said.

While Mr. Solanki, an avid adventure enthusiast himself will provide guidance, the expedition will be held by Mr. Anil Kumar, who has spearheaded multiple Himalayan expeditions in the last 15 years.

The expedition has been supported by Ladies Circle India, Diya Foundation, and The Mountain Goat with logistical and financial support. The cost of the project is estimated to be ₹10 lakh and the organisers were looking forward to contributions.

The selection trials will be held on February 9, Sunday, at Open Air Theatre, Manasagangothri, Mysuru. For further details, interested candidates can contact 9886014460 or 9845116835.
