Criticising Congress leader Rahul Gandhi after his party’s loss in the Delhi Assembly election, Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi said Mr. Gandhi will now “blame EVMs” for the defeat.

The Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) founder also advised the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha to “develop maturity” instead of playing the blame game. “The Opposition will now cry about EVMs and voter lists. They always question EVMs when they lose elections, they look for excuses,” Mr. Manjhi said at Patna airport while interacting with the media.

He further said, “I will ask Mr. Gandhi to develop some maturity and speak sensible things, he is no longer a child.”

Mr. Manjhi later posted on X, “Delhi is just the trailer, Bihar is yet to come. Congratulations and best wishes to all newly elected BJP MLAs, workers, national and State leaders on the resounding victory. This victory is a testament to the trust of the people of Delhi in the development policies of the National Democratic Alliance [NDA] under the leadership of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

Senior BJP leader and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary also congratulated Mr. Modi and BJP president J.P. Nadda for the victory. He asserted that the party will repeat the success in the Bihar Assembly election scheduled in October-November.

“The NDA will get more than 200 seats in Bihar due to the development work of the Prime Minister and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. I thank the people of Delhi for trusting Modi ji’s guarantees and ousting the AAPda [disaster] government of false promises from power. The mandate of 2025 is against the politics of confrontation with the Centre and in favour of a double-engine government in Delhi,” Mr. Choudhary said.

Mr. Choudhary, who addressed rallies in 17 of 70 Assembly constituencies in Delhi, said the results were “as per expectations” and alleged that Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal had brought to Delhi the same plight of poor roads and electricity, as Bihar during the regime of Lalu Prasad.

He stressed that the people’s court had punished Mr. Kejriwal for crimes such as insulting the people of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh living in Delhi, liquor scam, polluting the Yamuna, and building his “glass palace” by looting public money.

Janata Dal (United) State president Umesh Kushwaha congratulated the people of Delhi and NDA workers. He said that the people of Delhi had expressed their trust in the good governance and development policies of the NDA and the election results proved there was no alternative to the strength and unity of the NDA in the entire country.

“Mr. Kejriwal and his party had to pay the price for breaking promises made to the common people. The people have clearly rejected those who indulge in politics of lies and loot. Whether it is Mr. Modi at the Centre or Mr. Kumar in Bihar, both have established a new dimension of development with their efficient leadership,” Mr. Kushwaha said.

He asserted that the fate of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in Bihar will be even worse than that of the AAP because the political character and conduct of both the parties were similar. He added that both parties were mired in scams and corruption.

Mr. Kumar congratulated the BJP for its win on X. “Congratulations and best wishes on the BJP’s landslide victory in the Delhi Assembly election. The people of Delhi have expressed their full confidence in the able leadership of the Mr. Modi. Many congratulations to the Prime Minister for this historic victory.”
