The Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA) floating tender for the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) on the design and development of a state-of-the-art sports complex in Dr. K. Shivaram Karanth Layout (SKL) has triggered anger among the allottees of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout (NPKL).

Terming it “step-motherly treatment” towards NPKL, allottees allege that the BDA is not showing the same enthusiasm to complete basic infrastructure work at the NPKL. The allottees are also miffed that BDA Commissioner N. Jayaram did not attend the Legislature’s Petitions Committee meetings twice despite being summoned over delay in NPKL works.

The BDA floated the tender to prepare DPR for the sports complex in Dr. K. Shivaram Karanth Layout on February 4, even as sites are yet to be allotted. Suryakiran A.S. of NPKL Open Forum said, “This is a continuation of blatant discrimination and neglect of NPKL. The Layout awaited even basic amenities for nine years after sites were allotted. But BDA seems to be working full-swing to develop Shivaram Karanth Layout, even before sites are allotted.”

Mr. Suryakiran said the BDA Commissioner had skipped two meetings convened by the petition committee - one in January and another in February - to review the work progress at NPKL. On both occasions, Mr. Jayaram gave excuses for his absence which has not gone down well with both the allottees and the committee members.

A senior BDA official said there is no discrimination and the BDA is only doing its work. The BDA is also working at NPKL in the interest of allottees, he said. Sources said Mr. Jayaram did not attend the two meetings as he had to appear before a court during the same time.
