Youth faints, dies while watching cricket match in Chennai

As his team won, he started celebrating the victory when he suddenly fell unconscious.

A 25-year-old man who was watching a cricket match in the YMCA Stadium at Nandanam in Chennai died on Sunday (February 9, 2025).

The Chennai City Police said K. Karthik, who was a native of Tirunelveli, was working in a private software company. He was residing with his friends at a private lodge in T. Nagar. On Saturday, he went to watch a cricket match held in the YMCA Stadium in which his company’s team played.

As his team won, he started celebrating the victory when he suddenly fell unconscious. Immediately, he was rushed to a private hospital in Nandanam. He was admitted in the ICU and was undergoing treatment. However, he died in the early hours on Sunday, police said.

The Saidapet Police have filed a case and are investigating.
