Biren Singh resigns as Manipur Chief Minister

A day before facing a no-confidence motion in the Manipur Assembly, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh submitted resignation to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Sunday (February 9, 2025). The motion was to be moved by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislators.

31 Maoists killed in encounter in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur

In the biggest anti-Maoist operation of the year so far, at least 31 Maoists were gunned down by the security forces in an anti-Maoist operation in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur on Sunday (February 9, 2025), said the police. Two security personnel were killed while two others sustained injuries in the gun battle.

Atishi resigns as Delhi Chief Minister

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Sunday (February 9, 2025) met Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena and submitted her resignation to him at the Delhi Secretariat. L-G Saxena received the resignation and asked her to continue in her position till the formation of the new government.

Amit Shah vows to eradicate Maoism by March 31, 2026

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Sunday (February 9, 2025) that “Naxals” will be eradicated by March 31, 2026, and no citizen of the country has to lose his life due to it. Mr. Shah said this after the security forces killed 31 Maoists in Chhattisgarh. “I also reiterate my resolve that before 31 March, 2026, we will completely eradicate Naxalism from the country so that no citizen of the country has to lose his life due to it,” he wrote on ‘X’ in Hindi.

He was 95. Nujoma’s death was announced Sunday by current Namibian President Nangolo Mbumba. Mbumba said Nujoma died on Saturday night after being hospitalized in the capital, Windhoek.
