BJP begins talks to select Delhi CM; oath-taking likely after PM’s U.S. visit

A day after winning 48 out of the 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly elections, a delegation of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s winning candidates in the capital, led by Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva, met Lieutenant Governor (L-G) V.K. Saxena on Sunday (February 9, 2025). 

Biren Singh steps down amid discontent among MLAs

Speculation was rife about a change of guard in Manipur as early as Saturday (February 8, 2025) evening, when N. Biren Singh left for New Delhi in a chartered flight soon after holding a meeting with the MLAs of the ruling National Democratic Alliance, whose constituents include the Naga People’s Front and the Janata Dal (United). Out of 46 MLAs of the alliance, only 20 turned up for the meeting. Mr. Singh resigned a day later on Sunday, February 9, 2025.
