A Delhi court on Monday granted bail to Abhishek Gupta, the former CEO of RAU’s IAS Study Circle, and Deshpal Singh, the institute’s coordinator, in connection with the deaths of three Civil Services aspirants at the institute in July 2024.
Shreya Yadav, 25, from Uttar Pradesh, Tanya Soni, 25, from Telangana, and Nevin Dalvin, 28, from Kerala, drowned in the institute’s basement after it was flooded with rainwater.
Granting a regular bail to the accused, the court ordered Mr. Gupta and Mr. Singh to submit a personal bond of ₹1 lakh along with two sureties.
The accused were granted interim bail in September 2024.
During the hearing, Mr. Gupta’s counsel submitted that the investigation into the case had been completed and that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had filed a chargesheet.
In its chargesheet, the Central probe agency had accused Mr. Gupta and his aide, Mr. Singh, of criminal negligence. The agency had also accused the four co-owners of the basement, Tejinder Singh, Parvinder Singh, Harvinder Singh and Sarabjit Singh, of the same offence. However, the Delhi High Court had granted regular bail to the four co-owners of the building.
