Elderly woman found roaming in forest after three days, rescued

An 80-year-old woman who went missing from home and roamed in the forest for three days was rescued on Monday.

Chinnarasi, 80, a resident of Nelliyankaradu near Kannankurichi, went missing on February 7. After searching for her at several places, her family lodged a complaint with Kannankurichi police. During their search, the police found Chinnarasi roaming near the forest. They soon alerted the Forest Department, who began searching for her. She was finally spotted at Sonappadi in the Kurumbapatti Reserve Forest and rescued on Monday. According to the officials, she told them that she ate fruits and drank water available in the forest for survival. Since she had become weak, her family admitted her to the hospital.
