The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has seized a consignment of 40 kgs of ganja in the express train at Arakkonam railway station in Ranipet on Tuesday.Police said that as part of security measures, a team of RPF personnel was conducting surprise checks in halted trains at the railway station.

The team searched coaches of the express train, which was on its way to Chennai, halted at the railway station, they found two abandoned tourist bags with 15 packets that contained 40 kgs of ganja in the train. Initial inquiry revealed that two persons had abandoned the consignment in the train and fled the spot. A case has been registered by Arakkonam RPF. Police also analysed CCTV footage to nab the duo that was involved in ganja smuggling. A probe is under way.
