All Pensioners and Retired Persons Association (APRPA) Visakhapatnam committee general secretary Sk Hussain has demanded that employees and workers, who had retired after serving in government and private organisations, be paid a minimum pension of ₹9,000 per month along with DA in tune with the growing prices of essential commodities.

A dharna was organised by the APRPA, in support of the All India Coordination Committee of EPS 95 Pensioners’ dharna in Delhi, at the Gandhi statue here on Tuesday.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Hussain sought that all EPS 95 pensioners should be given an opportunity to claim higher pension option, without any cut-off date. The EPS 95 pensioner and his/her spouse should be given an opportunity to avail of full medical benefits. The applications submitted under the ‘higher pension’ option should be processed early to enable eligible beneficiaries to lead a better life with higher income. He sought that the railway concessions for EPS 95 pensioners, which were withdrawn, should be revived.

The protest was organised under the leadership of association leader Deenabandhu.

Association district vice president U.V.S.N. Varma, State secretary K. Sudhakara Rao, SAIL leaders A. Narayana Rao and RTC union leader Tulsi Ram were among those who participated in the protest.
