184 kg ganja seized from a house at Gajuwaka in Visakhapatnam, eight persons from Odisha and Rajasthan nabbed

The accused procured the ganja from interior parts of Odisha and brought it to Visakhapatnam, says DCP

Officials from the City Task Force (CTF), in coordination with the Gajuwaka police, raided a property near Kanithi Road here on Tuesday and seized about 184 kg ganja from eight persons. The arrested include seven from Odisha and one from Rajasthan, the police said.

Addressing a press conference at the police conference hall here on Tuesday, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone II) Mary Prasanthi said that based on concrete information, the CTF and Gajuwaka police conducted the raid. The accused had procured the ganja from interior parts of Odisha and brought it to Visakhapatnam, she said. The accused were planning to sell the ganja to some local sources, when the police conducted the raid, the DCP said.

Ms. Mary Prasanthi warned that strict action will be taken against those involved in ganja transportation as well as consumption in the city. She said that the police have been keeping a constant vigil on the ganja smuggling.
