A partially burnt body of a woman was recovered from an irrigation tank at Ilaththur in the district on Tuesday.
Police said the body of the 30-year-old woman was retrieved after passers-by noticed and alerted them.
Superintendent of Police S. Aravind visited the spot. The body was sent to Tenkasi Government Hospital for a post-mortem. Empty liquor bottles were also recovered from the spot.
Ilaththur police have registered a case.
