515 kg ganja seized and four arrested in Anakapalli district

The accused are planning to take the ganja to New Delhi, says the Anakapalli SP

In a huge catch, Makavarapalem police on Tuesday arrested four persons and seized about 515 kg ganja from at Paidipala Junction under Narsipatnam rural police station limits in Anakapalli district.

The seized ganja is estimated to be around ₹25 lakh in Agency areas, but it cost around ₹50 lakh in northern States. A car, three motorcycles and four mobile phones were seized from the accused. Four more accused who were involved in the case are yet to be arrested.

Addressing a press conference at Anakapalli, Superintendent of Police Tuhin Sinha said that among the four arrested, three are from Anakapalli district, while one is from Koraput in Odisha. He said that the accused have procured the ganja from Odisha and brought to A Sanivaram in Chintapalli. From A Sanivaram village in Chintapalli to Nindugudi village of Rolugunta mandal, the accused have managed to bring the ganja through forest route by carrying them on their back and on horses. From Nindugudi, the accused were transporting the ganja in a car towards Anakapalli, where they were caught by the police.

As per the SP, the accused had planned to take the ganja packed in 22 bags to New Delhi.

Narsipatnam DSP P. Srinivasa Rao, Circle Inspector, Narsipatnam Rural, L Revathamma, Sub Inspector, Makavarapalem, Damodar Naidu, and others were present.
