Minister for Highways E. V. Velu on Tuesday inaugurated a new bridge across the Cooum River at Thiruverkadu that was constructed at a cost of Rs. 18.40 crore.

The 94-metre-long and 17-metre-wide high-level bridge has replaced a causeway that used to get flooded every monsoon. The bridge with walkways and bicycle tracks is also pedestrian and cyclist friendly. Residents of Veeraraghavapuram, Avadi, Poonamallee, Kaduvetti, Senneerkuppam and Thiruverkadu will benefit from this bridge.

Minister for Minorities S. M. Nasar, Secretary Highways R. Selvaraj and Tiruvallur district Collector M. Prathap graced the occasion.
