The High Grounds police booked a 25-year-old photographer for flying a drone in a high-security zone in the Taj West End hotel area where Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and other VIPs were staying to attend Aero India - 2025 on Sunday evening.

The accused, identified as Dayananda R, told the police that he was using the drone to videograph a marriage event, which he was assigned to shoot. He was not aware of the restrictions or had a licence to use the drone, police said. Police personnel deployed for security duty in and around the Taj West End hotel found that the accused was operating the drone outside Gururaja Kalyana Mantapa, near the hotel to cover the marriage event.

The police seized the drone for further investigation. A case has been booked under section 125 (act endangering human life or personal safety of others) and section 289 (negligent conduct with respect to machinery) of Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, 2023, for further investigation.
