Two arrested under POCSO Act in Perambalur

The Arumbavur police arrested two persons in the district on Monday on charges of secretly filming on mobile phones women and girls taking bath at Vengalam.

Acting on a complaint, the police arrested K. Mohan Raj, 29, of Vengalam and A. Jayaprakash, 29, of Annamangalam. The case was initially registered under section 67 A of the Information Technology Act. It was altered on Tuesday and booked under the POCSO Act against the two accused, said a police press release.  The mobile phone used by Mohan Raj has been seized.

As a sequel to the crime, a group of residents of Vengalam staged a road roko on Perambalur - Athur road near Krishnapuram on Tuesday demanding stern action against the accused. The villagers gave up their protest following the intervention of the police personnel.
