A total of 36 Assistant Commandants of the 78th and 79th batch of Indian Coast Guard officers completed the Coast Guard Law and Operations course at the Indian Coast Guard Training Centre here on Tuesday.
A passing-out parade was held on this occasion. During the course, they were imparted instructions on Coast Guard-specific subjects such as Maritime Law, Search and Rescue, boarding, fisheries monitoring and control, prevention and control of marine pollution and other subjects related to the CG’s Charter of Duties. The trainees also underwent capsule courses at the Centre Institute of Fisheries Nautical and Engineering Training (CIFNET) on fisheries technology and at the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN) in Customs, Rummaging and Narcotics Control.
The training was conducted with emphasis on professional calibre, practical broad base knowledge and critical thinking skills in the officer trainees which are the key requisites for manning state of the art platforms of the force and handling critical and dynamic situations at sea.
The parade was reviewed by Inspector General Iqbal Singh Chauhan, the Commander Coast Guard Region (NE). The “Director General Sword of Honour” for the 77th and 78th Batch was awarded to Assistant Commandant Tulsidas Bharadwaj and Assistant Commandant Ravi Kumar respectively for standing first in overall order of merit in their course.
