Police posted for security outside Sengottaiyan’s residence in Erode

Updated - February 12, 2025 02:21 pm IST - ERODE

With controversy prevailing over the absence of former AIADMK Minister and incumbent Gobichettipalayam MLA K.A. Sengottaiyan at a felicitation ceremony organised to celebrate the implementation of the Avinashi–Athikadavu project at Annur in Coimbatore district on February 9, police personnel were deployed for security outside his residence in Kullampalayam, Gobichettipalayam, on Tuesday night.

The ceremony, organised by farmers’ associations, was attended by AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami. After Mr. Sengottaiyan’s absence sparked controversy, he clarified that he had “chosen not to participate” because the invitation and banners did not feature images of former Chief Ministers M.G. Ramachandran and J. Jayalalithaa.

At 7 p.m. on Tuesday, two sub-inspectors and two head constables were stationed outside his house for security. Party sources stated that while Mr. Sengottaiyan did not request security, it was provided based on orders from senior police officials.
