The Mangalapuram police rescued a 15-year-old boy who was allegedly abducted by a gang on Tuesday.

According to the police, the Class X student was reported to have been abducted by a four-member gang in a car from near his house around 7.45 p.m. The police traced the gang to a rubber plantation in Keezhattingal. While two of the suspects managed to flee in the car, two others were apprehended.

The child, whose parents are settled abroad, has been residing with his relatives. They alleged that he had been abducted by a gang on a two-wheeler on February 8. Although the relatives had approached the police, no action had been taken, they claimed.

The police suspect that drug racketeers may be involved in the incidents.
