CM Naidu for promoting work from home for women

Extending greetings to all women and girls in STEM on the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has stated that Andhra Pradesh is planning “Work From Home” in a big way, especially for women.

In a post on X, Mr. Naidu said that such initiatives could help us strike a better work-life balance as well. The Andhra Pradesh government plans to harness these trends to drive meaningful change in AP.

The Andhra Pradesh IT & GCC Policy 4.0 is a game-changing step in that direction. “We’re offering incentives for developers to create IT office spaces in every city/town/Mandal and supporting IT/GCC firms to generate employment at the grassroots”, he said.

Mr. Naidu said that he was confident these initiatives would foster greater workforce participation, especially among women professionals, who would benefit from flexible remote/hybrid work options.

AP Chief Minister said that the work landscape underwent a shift during the COVID-19 pandemic. With technology readily available to scale, “Work From Home” gained prominence. Concepts such as remote work, coworking spaces (CWS), and Neighbourhood Workspaces (NWS) can empower businesses and employees alike to create flexible, productive work environments. 

It may be recalled that Mr. Naidu, during the last week of December 2024, stressed that educated women should not remain confined to their homes as homemakers. “With work-from-home models and co-working centres, we can create employment opportunities for them,” he said highlighting that many skilled women are unable to work due to family responsibilities and providing them with suitable opportunities can enhance economic activity.

He also directed officials to develop co-working and neighbourhood working spaces, especially in rural areas and small towns. Training programs will be conducted to equip individuals with the necessary skills, and designated working spaces will be created to support their integration into the workforce, he said during a review meeting on the development of co-working space and neighbourhood working space in December , 2024.
