1. Aero India 2025 gets off to a spectacular start in Bengaluru

The 15th edition of the biennial Aero India was inaugurated by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh at the Air Force Station in Yelahanka on Monday (February 10, 2025). Set to be the biggest-ever Aero India till date, the biennial event will see the participation of over 900 exhibitors, including 150 foreign companies.

The inaugural of the five-day event also saw a flypast comprising various aircraft. The five-day event comprises Defence Ministers’ Conclave, CEOs’ Round-Table, iDEX start-up event, aerial displays, a large exhibition area comprising India Pavilion and a trade fair of aerospace companies.

Among the aircraft which will be on display are the fifth generation fighter jets of Russia, the SU-57 and the F-35 from the U.S., the KC-135 Stratotanker, B-1B Lancer and the Multi-Mission Transport Aircraft KC-390 Millennium from Brazil. Read our full coverage of the event, here.

2. WATCH | Karnataka’s Kumbh Mela: Devotees take a holy dip at T.Narsipur as three-day event begins

The 13th Kumbh Mela at T.Narsipur — which is at the confluence of rivers Cauvery, Kapila and the invisible and mythical Spatika Sarovara – began on Monday (February 10, 2025). People prayed at Agastyeshwara, Gunja Narasimhaswamy, Chowdeshwari and Hanuman temples before setting out for the bathing ghats to take a holy dip.

The Kumbh Mela here is of recent origin and began in 1989 at the initiative of Suttur seer Sri Shivaratri Deshikendra Swamiji and other pontiffs. The objective is to encourage devout to take a dip at the confluence at T.Narsipur in case they are unable to make it to the Kumbh Melas that take place at Prayagraj, Haridwar, Ujjain or Nashik.

3. Rowdy slashes four persons with knife at Bengaluru’s Indiranagar, triggers panic

Panic gripped residents of Indiranagar in Bengaluru after a knife-wielding man stabbed four persons, including two pani puri vendors, in less than half hour at night on February 8. All four sustained injuries, but are out of danger. 

A viral message on social media and WhatsApp groups claimed that a serial killer was on the loose in the area. However, police have clarified that the culprit has been identified as Kadamba, a rowdy-sheeter at Indiranagar Police Station. Four special teams have been formed to track down the accused and arrest him.

4. NITES files official complaint against Infosys with Karnataka Labour Department

The IT-union body Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) has submitted a formal complaint to the Karnataka State Labour Department against Infosys’ “unfair and illegal termination of approximately 700 campus recruits” at its Mysuru campus.

The NITES said that the freshers who had been onboarded in October 2024 were handed letters of ‘mutual separation’ and asked to leave abruptly. These employees had reportedly all received their offer letters two years ago.

5. Anganwadi worker, assistant suspended for allegedly branding child

An Anganwadi worker and assistant have been suspended for branding a child with a hot ladle in Gulagala Jambagi village in Bagalkot district.

The women branded the child as they were upset with her incessant crying. The child suffered a minor burn wound and was treated as an out patient.
